ToolWatch Enterprise Combines Key Technologies to
Create Unique Abilities for Clients
DENVER, COLO., May 27, 2008—ToolWatch Enterprise, the construction industry's first on-demand construction resource management system, has joined several powerful technologies in a unique way to create an application that is easy for both users and IT staff, reliable and secure. Built on Microsoft’s .NET Framework, ToolWatch Enterprise incorporates smart client deployment, SQL Server Compact Edition and SQL Server 2005 Enterprise with merge replication. The system was created by ToolWatch, a company that provides software for managing tools, equipment and materials both in the warehouse and on site to organizations of all sizes.
"The combination of technologies used in ToolWatch Enterprise is a first, not only in the construction industry, but in database systems in general," said Don Kafka, ToolWatch president and CEO. "We have created a system that uses Microsoft technology in the way it was designed to be used, to the benefit of our clients and their companies." ToolWatch Enterprise is an extremely advanced system that provides powerful management abilities to any organization that needs to manage tools and equipment.
The product is built on Microsoft's .NET framework, which ensures a high level of compatibility with other applications running on most Windows operating systems. Combined with Smart Client Technology, this framework provides a system that is easily deployed on user desktops and automatically updates itself when needed. Easily installed with minimal or no IT support, the software does not interrupt other important technology functions or require special setup.
ToolWatch Enterprise also employs Microsoft's SQL Compact Edition 3.5. Incorporating this technology into mobile and desktop client applications gives users a seamless experience whether they are connected to the service over the Internet or working offline. Users can work offline without reducing their productivity because a local view of their data is stored in an encrypted compact database directly on their computer or mobile device. The ability to effectively work offline is particularly important in the construction industry since employees often must work on remote jobsites with limited or no Internet access for extended periods of time.
Using the merge replication capabilities of Microsoft's SQL Server 2005 platform, ToolWatch Enterprise is able to manage data updates between individual subscribers and the hosted service through quick synchronizations that require minimal network bandwidth. Leveraging the clustering and mirroring capabilities of the SQL Server technology also enables ToolWatch to provide a highly available and scalable service to their customers.
